Sculpting the Male Torso

A Transformational Sculpture Experience in Italy Immerse yourself in the figurative sculpture tradition of Renaissance Italy while living and working in the historic artist town of Pietrasanta.

 

This intensive 10-day workshop focuses on sculpting the male torso — exploring anatomy, structure, rhythm, and expressive form under expert guidance.

 

Alongside daily studio practice, you will savour the sights, sounds, and tastes of Italy — marble studios, bronze foundries, historic cities, and unforgettable meals.

 

What You Will Study

 

This workshop is designed for artists who want to:

• Deepen their understanding of male anatomy

• Refine proportion and structural accuracy

• Develop expressive gesture and surface sensitivity

• Strengthen observational and modelling skills

• Work within the Italian atelier tradition

 

You will sculpt from a live model and receive individual critiques throughout the course.

Gabriele Vicari Renowned Italian sculptor with extensive experience in classical figurative sculpture.

Linda Lindsay Anatomy specialist and accomplished figurative sculptor with decades of teaching experience.

The Studio Experience

 

Participants work in professional Italian studios in Pietrasanta — a town internationally known for marble carving and bronze casting.

 

You will:

 

• Work in a fully equipped sculpture studio

 

• Visit local marble workshops

 

• Tour a traditional bronze foundry

 

• Experience the artistic heritage of Tuscany

 

This is the same environment where contemporary masters and international artists create monumental works.
